Lipoma surgery and its cost in Agra

A benign tumour made up of fat tissues is called a lipoma. It is located just beneath the skin, and it looks like a small, soft, rubbery lump. They are mostly found on the upper back, shoulders, arms, buttocks, and upper thighs. Most of the times, they are painless. Between the ages of 40 and 60 years, lipomas usually appear, but they might also appear at any age. Lipomas have less potential for becoming cancerous, and they generally do not change after their formation. In adults, these are the most common non-cancerous tumours. Unless lipomas are squeezed or bruised, they do not hurt at all. Sometimes more than one lipoma occurs to some people. There are several clinics for lipoma treatment in Agra at Rajendra Point, Sanjay Place, Shahganj, M.G. Road, Civil Lines, Kamla Nagar, Sikandra, Shamshabad Road. Usually, for an aesthetic reason or to eliminate pain, lipoma removal surgery is done. A dermatologist or plastic surgeon performs lipoma removal surgery. The average cost of lipoma surgery in Agra is around ₹22230.

Lipoma Symptoms

Roundish masses that feel soft and rubbery are usually considered lipomas. Gentle pushing can move those lipomas under the skin. Some of the subtypes of lipoma such as angiolipoma are painful but normally they don’t hurt. Lipomas present in deeper tissues often takes a longer time to get noticed but when they've discovered they’re found to be quite large. Less mobility is shown by deeper lipomas. Lipomas may occur anywhere in the body such as:

  • Under the skin – especially in the abdomen, neck, arms, shoulders, back, and thighs.
  • Soft and doughy to the touch – with slight finger pressure it easily moves.
  • Generally small – they can grow although they are typically less than 2 inches in diameter.
  • Sometimes painful – if the lipomas contain many blood vessels or press on nearby nerves while growing they can cause pain.
  • Exceptions – apart from the usual lipomas some of them are deeper and larger.

The original cause of lipomas has not yet been found. Sometimes a physical trauma may cause a lipoma but in other cases, multiple lipomas can be caused by some of the genetic conditions like Gardner syndrome and hereditary multiple lipomatosis. Males affected with a condition called Madelung's disease can also have lipomas.

Lipoma Risks

The risk of developing a lipoma may get increased by the following factors:

  • Age between 40 and 60 years old – this is the most common age group for the occurrence of lipomas and they are rare in children.
  • Having certain other disorders – multiple lipomas can occur in people having other disorders like adiposis dolorosa, Cowden syndrome and Gardner’s syndrome.
  • Genetics – it is passed down from generation to generation in a family.

Lipoma Treatment

Usually, treatment is not required while having a lipoma. Only if the lipoma is painful or is growing it is recommended by the doctors to remove it. Treatments of lipoma include:

  • Surgical removal – by cutting lipomas out most of them are removed surgically. It is very uncommon to have relapsed after removal. Scarring and bruising are some of the possible side effects.
  • Steroid injections – This treatment usually doesn’t eliminate lipomas but shrinks them. Still, the use and potential of injections before surgical removal is being studied.
  • Liposuction – in this treatment, to remove the fatty lump a needle and a large syringe are used.
